Months before the Philippine National Elections, people have different opinions regarding the automation of the elections. The automation includes only the counting of the votes but not the voting itself. This was not clarified clearly in the public that’s why some of them say that this automation is hard to implement. Their reason is that, not all the voters have knowledge about computers especially to the elderly. They come up with this conclusion because the media people always state that the election is automated. They did not clearly define that the automation only covers the counting not the voting, if they tell the public that this is the case then no one will think that the automation is not easy to implement. But not all the people thinks that this not a good idea. Some of them say that this may help to the process of the election.
The question is, “Does this automation brings improvement in the election process?”. One critic said that the election has an improvement in terms of speed but in terms of accuracy we cannot state that it’s 100% accurate not until we have the results of the manual counting. But since this is just the first time that the government of the Philippines made an automated election they can still find ways on how to improve this process. We just hope that this is just the start of the advancement of Philippine government towards good governance.
